UPDATED: Digsby: Manage multiple social networks, e-mail, IM accounts - 5000 invites!

UPDATE: Lifehacker also has an invite code.

Digsby just launched in private beta this week, but we’ve got 5000 invites to give away to Download Squad readers. Keep on reading to find out how to get yours.

Digsby is a desktop client that lets you chat with contacts no matter which IM service they use. It also includes an e-mail notifier, and a pop up screen for keeping track of Facebook and MySpace updates. You can even add a Digsby chat window to your Facebook page so that anyone viewing your profile can send you instant messages which you can reply to using Digsby. When you first run Digsby, you’ll be prompted to add accounts for each service you want to use. Under IM, you can choose AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, and Jabber. For e-mail, you have a choice of Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, AOL Mail, or any POP or IMAP e-mail service.

If you want to take Digsby for a spin, just download and install the application and enter “dlsquad” when asked for an invite code. Digsby supports Windows XP and Vista at the moment. Mac and Linux clients are under development.

Gmail + chat + AIM = crazy delicious

Today we are happy to tell you about a new feature we’ve started to roll out which will enable you to sign into your AIM account and chat with your AIM buddies right inside Gmail. When you log in to AIM through Gmail chat, your AOL buddies will appear in your chat list with friends from your Google Talk network, and you will see the yellow “running man” logo to the right of your AIM friends’ screen names. To your AIM friends it will look like you are logged in to AIM as usual.

The next evolution of labels

Today, we’re happy to announce the next evolution of labels: the colored label. Until now the label has been a little inconspicuous creature, subtly suggesting categorical associations in its simple green coat.

Sync your inbox across devices with free IMAP

As we roll out the feature over the next couple of days, you will be able to use Gmail at work, in your car, or just about anywhere on any device, and actions you take will be automatically synced with Gmail on the web (and remember it works the other way too: anything you do on the Web will be seen on your phone or in your mail client).
